Keeping busy, it's what we do best!
We may not be able to offer our usual excursions and top-class entertainment right now, but that doesn’t mean life at Sandpipers is boring. Take a look at some of the fun things our guests have been getting up to over the last few months for a taste of what you could enjoy on your own break with us…
From drawing to scrapbooking and painting to poetry, our guests have been keeping up their creativity and have produced some fantastic pieces that they can take home to remind them of the small pleasures that we’ve all found in the pandemic.
Staying active is key to staying sane right now, which is why our wonderful team have been holding regular exercise classes for guests. Don’t worry, there’s never anything too challenging, and the expert care team are brilliant at ensuring they tailor the moves for all disabilities.
Sandpipers legend, Sparkey, entertained us all during the first lockdown with his Facebook quizzes and videos. For those lucky enough to be at Sandpipers, the fun hasn’t stopped, and regular quizzes are a given. So, get watching a few game shows and come prepared to impress your fellow guests!
It’s all fun and game at Sandpipers – quite literally. Depending on who is staying and what the mood is, our team have been getting everyone together with some games. We’re always open to new suggestions, so if you’ve got a favourite you’d like to play then please let us know.
Ever tried your hand at knitting only to get halfway through that woolly jumper and find yourself bored or stuck? Well, we have the solution – Macrame!
This simple knot-based arts and crafts requires minimal kit (you just need some nice yarn or string) and a lot less skill than knitting. Despite its relative ease, the results are some beautiful, bohemian looking accessories, such as wall-hangings, plant pot hangers and dream-catchers.
To get started, simply type ‘Macrame’ into Google and you’ll find a whole host of sites offering tips, tricks and tutorials. Now that should keep you busy through lockdown three! Make sure you send us some snaps of your finished pieces.
Are you looking for a way to celebrate Valentines Day with your special someone, but struggling for ideas in the midst of a pandemic? We’re here to help!
